EODT to provide mine clearance support

LENOIR CITY, Tenn., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has selected EOD Technology Inc. to provide munitions and explosives clearance services to support operations in Afghanistan.

EODT, a U.S. company accredited by the U.N. Mine Action Center Afghanistan, received the contract from the Army Engineering and Support Center to provide its mine and battle area clearance services.

Under the $60 million deal, EODT will support the ongoing U.S. operations in Afghanistan with its clearance expertise to safely remove landmines, munitions material and other explosive threats.

"EODT is pleased to support the U.S. Forces and Army Engineering and Support Center by providing mine clearance services under this contract," Matt Kaye, EODT president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"Having operated in this high-profile region since 2004, we understand what it takes to be successful and are confident we will accomplish the mission."
